Welcome to the world of Cloudrift!
This is my first game project, so expect a functional mess, with beauty inside it, fueled by passion.
Not a single line is made with AI.
Story
You wake up in the cold corner of the Northern Kingdom, Solsturr. Without any memory of who you are, yet a good recollection of the entire continent as it was centuries ago... you know well enough where you are, even if the walls are higher, you just need to find out WHEN you are and what do the gods have in store for you.
Gameplay
Cloudrift is a text-based rpg sandbox, you level up your strength, agility and wisdom independently, each one helping in combat and non-combat scenarios. Brute force your way through the large crowds of the capital and the guards at the gate. Disappear into the shadows of tunnels and passageways and steal the riches of the lords. Use the powers of the long forgotten mages to summon the earth shattering forces of Scourges, monsters that brought justice in the favor of the divines.
Current Game
All of the above are very much in work, for now there is only one kingdom available, Solsturr, and it still needs more expansion. There is only a handful of abilities you can use in combat, and a few magical abilities. All of which I will work on, but I need the barebones of the game to be well and fun.
What is the point of being able infiltrate military camps and steal plans just to sell them on the black market, or fighting and blowing fire like a dragon if no one will have the patience or interest to get that far?
With that being said whenever I will finish the game there will be 4 large areas of the world players can explore. Handful of cities, towns and farms both destroyed and flourishing. A dozen dungeons with stories to tell and treasure to be found.
What to Expect From This Version
- Basic skill leveling, level up in strength, agility and wisdom to get more abilities
- Steal from a farm in the middle of the night, be careful no to get caught!
- Create potions to get experience in an easier way, you need to figure out the recipes on your own
- Make weapons and armor on your own, sell them or wear them with pride
- Complete bounties for the city and learn about the rulers of the Old Kingdom
- Infiltrate a bandit hideout, if your agility is good enough you can get through most of the hideout without getting in combat
Upcoming
You can find what's going to come in the very next update inside the game, but I will make a list of features that will come in the near future, beyond it.
- Libraries, learn about the Old Kingdoms, the history and the mysteries the land holds, and find recipes for potions
- Get your own materials, hunt for hides and mine for ores, no more dealing with the grumpy miners
- More dungeons
- Break into the houses of the common population, if you get caught your suspicion will rise, no one will believe the local bounty hunter is breaking into houses if one person complains, but do it often and they might arrest you
- Reputation system, depending on how you treat the common folk, you might damage your reputation, the merchants will ask for higher prices, word travels fast
